CTC Reps Attend National Training

Representatives from Five Town Communities That Care returned from a three-day training session in Washington, D.C. last week. The training was sponsored by the Office of National Drug Control Policy, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, and the Centers for Substance Abuse Prevention.

During the three days participants learned more about the federal Drug Free Communities Support Program, and the resources available to its grantees. Topics presented included strategic planning, data collection, problem analysis, using logic models, selecting interventions, and evaluation of effectiveness.

This session was the first in a series of three national training sessions for new Drug Free Communities Support Program participants such as the Five Town Communities That Care Coalition. Board chair Peter Russell participated in the first training session, along with Executive Director Dalene Dutton. Other members of the CTC Board will attend upcoming sessions.
