Doris Buffett to match donations!

Ms. Doris Buffett of Rockport has generously offered to match all cash donations from donors making a gift to Five Town CTC by October 15th, up to $25,000!

This will be a tremendous help as Five Town CTC continues its campaign to raise $100,000 before December 1 so that the organization can continue to offer local programming.  Donations will support not only FTCTC’s community education and coalition building activities, but will help the STAR after-school program, Math and Literacy Mentors, and Guiding Good Choices.

All donations are tax deductible  and can be made either online, or by mail.  For more information, go to our donations page.

(L to R) Five Town CTC Funding Workgroup Chair Ken Gardiner, Ms. Doris Buffett, and FTCTC Exec. Director Dalene Dutton.

Chestnut Street Baptist Church Donates $1200!

The congregation at Chestnut Street Baptist Church in Camden has once again stepped up  in support of the work of Five Town Communities That Care! Senior Pastor Adam Kohlstrom delivered a check for $1200 from the congregation on August 31st.

In a letter to the congregation Five Town Communities That Care Executive Director Dalene Dutton wrote, "Not only has the church provided a very generous financial gift to Five Town CTC, but Chestnut Street Baptist Church’s willingness to share its facilities has made a real difference in our ability to provide services to more of our community’s kids and their families.  We regard CSBC as a caring and valuable partner in the work we do.  [Chestnut Street Baptist Church] helps us bring to life the tagline that we have at the bottom of our logo—Together…promoting healthy youth."

Five Town CTC still has a substantial funding gap to fill in order to run all of its programs for the coming school year.  If you or your organization wish to make a donation, you can mail a check to us or donate online via United Mid Coast Charity’s secure online site or call the Five Town CTC office at 207-236-9800.

Volunteers Needed To Assist With Research Project

Five Town Communities That Care is seeking volunteers to help conduct observations of local research-based prevention programs like STAR and Guiding Good Choices.

CTC’s Program Evaluation Work Group needs more volunteers in order to be able to complete all of its quality assurance observations for the upcoming school year.

After an agency or group has volunteered to participate in the evaluation program, appropriate observation check-points are determined and set.

Volunteer observers complete a two-hour training, and then are assigned to a particular program and given a time to observe. The actual observations take about two hours, and happen two times during each program cycle. All programming takes place within the five town area.

The information collected from the observers is used by staff to make program modifications and by Five Town CTC to report on how well our local prevention programs adhere to the original, proven-effective, researched model.

Volunteering as an observer is an easy way to contribute to prevention efforts in our community, and to learn more about the great programs that are going on right here in our area!

The next observer training has been tentatively set for August 27 from 3-5PM at the CTC offices. Pre-registration is requested.

For more information or to register, contact Dalene Dutton at 236-9800 or dalene@fivetownctc.org.
